This lecture is for those that are interested in knitted mittens and the Icelandic knitting culture.

I will talk about the voyage I started a few years ago when I decided to write a book about Icelandic mittens. I chose to draw the patterns and write the instructions for selected mittens from the Textile Museum at Blönduós in northern Iceland. The museum has a good selection of mittens and it was hard to choose, but I tried to focus on showing a variety of styles. The results will be published in a book soon. I will talk about mittens with thumbs attached in different ways, patterns in mittens, the rich language of mitten knitting in Icelandic, and more. And photos of the mittens from the book will certainly be presented.
