Lace knitting for everyone with Ástþrúður Sif Sveinsdóttir

This is a project-based class during which we will knit a cowl inspired by volcanic ash on the Icelandic glacier Vatnajökull.
The cowl is knitted in the round from the top down with stocking stitches, except every 6th row there is an easy lace round. The pattern description has both written instructions and a chart. The exchange of colours replicates the natural pattern formed by the volcanic ash on the Icelandic glacier Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe. It is irregular and can be varied according to choice. The neckline is wide but has a cord that can be used to adjust its width. The beautiful Icelandic yarn E+2 from Einrum is perfect for this project. After the course you have the necessary skills to knit a lace sweater like Aska.
We will be using circular needles, working in the round, increasing and making a cord.
