Breaking the pattern with Ýr Jóhannsdóttir - Ýrúrarí

Teacher: Ýr Jóhannsdóttir - Ýrúrarí

Language: English
(Class also in Icelandic here.)

Students learn various fun textile techniques to make more use of their old knitted clothing and change them in creative and personal ways. The workshop starts with a talk on previous work of knit designer Ýrúrarí and gives an insight into how she approaches her upcycled sweater pieces. Students bring an old knitted clothing to work with and modify, going out of the workshop with knitted sketches and an idea of how to work further with the garment or other clothing waiting in the closet at home. The techniques thought in the workshop should reach both beginners and more advanced knitters but students can adopt the techniques to their own experience and style.

You will learn to use old knitted material like clothes and use their loops and form as base for creative and practical changes using knitting and other techniques.
