Hélène Magnússon: Threads of love

Hélène is an Icelandic/French designer passionate about the Icelandic knitting heritage. She believes the best way to preserve traditions is to continue using them, giving them a new life. In the hope it would help revive some of the traditions, she developed a range of unique Icelandic yarns and when she’s not busy publishing patterns and writing books about Icelandic knitting, she is guiding adventurous hiking and knitting tours in Iceland. During the lecture, she will about the making of her yarns, from the thread like Love Story lace, to the soft 2-ply lace Gilitrutt and her newest addition Katla, the first DK Sock yarn made of pure Icelandic lambswool. She will share her struggles and frustrations, her victories and her joys through this almost 10 years long journey.
